Zero Waste Week is a grass-roots approach to raise awareness about the environmental impacts of waste and ways to live a more zero waste lifestyle. Throughout the week, groups around the North Bay Area demonstrate how they are part of the solution through public education events and activities that focus on reducing, reusing, recycling, repurposing and composting. Zero Waste can also apply to resource use like water and energy conservation. This is about mindful use and consumption. Anyone can be part of the solution!

Testimonial

I’m so glad to live in an area that cares about environmental health, and grateful for organizations like Zero Waste Sonoma that provide public education and resources so we can all do our part! There are tons of opportunities during Zero Waste Week in particular, and I think everyone should participate in the events and activities that interest them the most! So far, I’ve toured the Laguna Wastewater Treatment plant and the Recology Material Recovery Facility (MRF), and participated in a workshop on dyeing fabric with kitchen scraps, all for free! During Zero Waste Week, we can learn new skills, trade items, get things repaired, or at the very least, learn about the infrastructure that allows us to live safely and healthily. The things we flush and throw away don’t just disappear. The more we know, the more responsible we can be with our actions. Thank you, Zero Waste Sonoma!

Zero Waste Week is a part of Zero Waste Month!

About Zero Waste Month (FAQs):

Zero Waste Month is an annual global campaign by Race to Zero Waste. During Zero Waste Month, we turn the Race to Zero Waste into a SPRINT! Are you ready to push for zero waste?

During Zero Waste Month, we invite the public to make an extra effort, try something new in their journey toward zero waste, and share on social media! We highlight expert voices and advocacy groups that are advancing the zero waste mission, along with discussing equity and accessibility concerns within the zero waste movement. Join the sprint at zerowastemonth.org!
